The latest development in the field of ATP bioluminescence is the use of the enzyme Adenylate Kinase (AK). AK Amplified ATP bioluminescence delivers definitive results in 18-24 hours, even for the absence of slow-growing moulds. This patented process is available exclusively from Celsis for the microbiological screening of personal care, pharmaceutical and beverage products. It may seem counter-intuitive, but it’s more difficult to accurately confirm the absence of microorganisms than their presence. Yet it’s this key measure that identifies how much time you’ll really save with a rapid method. Since most companies with a controlled manufacturing process will have functionally sterile products that show no contamination in 99% of cases, the length of time it takes to confirm that nothing is growing will determine how long your raw materials, solutions or finished goods are confined to micro-hold.
Sterility TestingHighly sensitive AKuScreen is also proving to be an excellent tool for sterility testing of in-process and finished goods of all types, including non-filterable and solid materials (such as disposable scalpels, medical devices and more). The Celsis system is especially well-suited to testing opaque or coloured solutions where turbidity cannot be assessed visually. Celsis provides non-subjective results in a fraction of the time of traditional methods. Download the poster on sterility testing with Celsis AKuScreen (PDF, 289Kb) presented at the PDA Microbiology meeting, October 2009, or Contact Celsis RD to learn the latest about our pharmaceutical customers using Celsis AKuScreen for sterility testing applications. RNA and ChemiluminescenceCelsis continues to pioneer new industrial methods for detection that are robust and easy to use. The new Celsis ReACT assays generate a chemiluminescent reaction to confirm the absence or presence of specific organisms like Staph. aureus or classes of organisms, such as Gram negatives, based on proprietary sequences of ribosomal RNA. Our testing systems are based on years of research and innovation in enzyme technology, and manufactured following ISO-certified processes.
